“Leave only footprints, take only memories”
(…and maybe some pictures)
Welcome
April 17, 2018
1:20pm
Left the house and we are on our way to Albany, NY.
2:35pm
We are in our room at the Hampton Inn & Suites Albany-Downtown. Our room is #614. Even
though we are on the 6th floor we don’t have much of a view. Office building, apartment
building, school and parking lots.
4:45pm
We are heading to the Palace Theatre. The show starts at 7:30, but since we ended up buying
VIP tickets we can get in at 5pm.
5:10pm
We are in the lobby of the theater. Very pretty building. As we enetered everyone was given a
small black shopping bag with: Brit Floyd poster, VIP pass on a lanyard and a CD of Brit Floyd,
live in Amsterdam. We are now waiting to be allowed into the theater. The VIP passes get us
in early to hear two songs that are not part of the show.
The VIP passes also allow us to view the merchandise for sale without all the crowds you
normally have to fight. After much debating we both bought Brit Floyd black, hooded
sweatshirts.
5:25pm
We are in the theater. We can sit anywhere we want as it is just the VIP ticket holders for this
veiwing/sound check.
5:50pm
The two songs are done and we are back in the lobby waiting for the Brit Floyd to join us for
photos and to sign autographs.
6:15pm
The VIP stuff is done. The band went back to prepare for the show and all VIP ticket holders
were asked to leave. We could come back in at 6:30 with the rest of the people, except if we
have our VIP passes with us we can get head-of-the-line privileges, and once again, beat the
mob.

I ran (walked) back to our room at the hotel and dropped off all the stuff we had been given/bought so that we didn’t have to hold onto it thru the
show. I was back at the theater in plenty of time to stand around and wait for the doors to open.
6:30pm
The doors were opened and we were allowed in. As promised our VIP passes got us in before the rest of the people. Being a VIP can be very nice!
10:30pm
The show started promtly at 7:30 and it was a very nice performance. I wasn’t sure how Barbara was going to like the show. I have listened to Pink
Floyd from their early days, but she really didn’t know the music. Happily she loved the show and the music. They did songs from most of the albums
and did a very good job. Most of the time you could have closed your eyes and thought it was the real Floyd performing.
They had one short intermission and they played for about 3 hours.
I am very happy Barbara suggested we go.
11:00pm
It was less than 2 blocks from the theater back to our hotel. We made it back and went to bed, resting up for tomorrow’s adventure.
